I know I never did it OUT LOUD... but for all those times I silently scoffed at LISS... I'm sorry!
OMG - 30 minutes at 3MPR and 10% Incline kicked my ASS!! I was drenched in sweat within the first minute and I walked away from the treddy as wiped out as I've EVER been from a HIIT. The last three minutes were HELL!
Thank you Kyra for sugesting it to me.. and thank you ME for finally trying it. Now I need to shower - thank you very much!
I love being drenched at the end! 10% incline will do it! Must've felt great!
ReplyDeleteThe fiance looked at me near the end and said "What are you doing? and why are you soaking wet!?"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds brutal. What does the LISS stand for? Low Intensity Sustained Sweating???
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on whether doing that would produce the same results as HIIT?
I have heard of LISS but I'm not sure exactly what it is, either. Please share!
ReplyDeleteLOL Moggie!
ReplyDeleteLow Intensity Steady State...
From my understanding - It's not the 'same' as HIIT. You don't get quite the 'afterburn' benefits etc. However... it's not quite as hard on you (because you're walking) and therefor you can do more of it - and it's safe to add on top of HIIT.
Jess - Basically you just set the treadmill as high as it will go (incline) and then walk 'quickly' - most people 3 to 4 MPH. Since I 'run' at 4MPH I went 3MPH. Usually you build up to doing it 45 to 60 minutes at a time - I was dying after 30 :P From what I've been told - doing it 2 to 3 times a week is pretty good for you.
